What the site handles
This is a static website. It sets no marketing cookies, runs no advertising pixels, and does no behavioral profiling. Cloudflare hosts and protects the site, so it may process ordinary request information such as an IP address, browser details, requested page, time, and security signals to deliver the site and prevent abuse.
The site does not load an analytics beacon or any other third-party analytics script.
The Valley
The Valley form asks only for an email address. The site passes that address, the signup page, and the request IP address to Buttondown so it can validate the request, send the confirmation, and record consent. Buttondown processes confirmation, delivery, bounce, complaint, unsubscribe, and suppression information needed to operate the list. Per-recipient open and click tracking are disabled.
The address is used to deliver HUSH, an explicit HOWL bonus scene for adult readers made available on the page a subscriber reaches after confirming, and to send Harrowdale publication news and, after HOWL, the subscriber novella THAW. The legal basis for those messages is consent. A signup remains unconfirmed until its owner clicks the confirmation link. Consent can be withdrawn at any time through the unsubscribe link in every publication message, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Who receives the information
Driftless Form LLC does not sell or rent subscriber information. Cloudflare processes site traffic and the signup request as the hosting and security provider. Buttondown processes mailing-list information as the email service provider. These providers may process information in countries outside the reader’s own under the contractual and legal safeguards available through their services. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect the service and its readers.
How long it is kept
Confirmed subscriber information is kept while The Valley operates and the reader remains subscribed. Unconfirmed and inactive records are reviewed and removed when they are no longer needed for consent, security, or troubleshooting. After an unsubscribe or deletion request, limited suppression and compliance information may be retained as necessary to honor the opt-out and avoid sending again. Hosting and security records follow Cloudflare’s applicable retention practices.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where a reader lives, they may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of their personal information. They may also withdraw consent and complain to their local data-protection authority. Send a request from the subscribed address to publisher@driftlessform.com. Identity may be verified before a request is completed.
Children and changes
This site and its books are for adult readers. The Valley is not directed to children, and Driftless Form LLC does not knowingly collect their information. Material changes to this notice will be posted here with a new effective date.
